Nikki Clarke

Everyone describes it differently. Some may call at an inner voice, intuition, a hunch, gut feeling or discernment. I call it a whisper.

Whatever you choose to call it, it is the sudden flash of insight from deep within.

Science suggests that the whisper can be a valuable tool in some circumstances. It seems like listening to that whisper does really mean something, and it helps to make good choices.

I know that every time I have ignored the whisper, I have come across challenges that I could have avoided, lost opportunities, and quite frankly, wasted time. When I blow it, I scold myself. Nikki, do not you ever do that again. Come on. You know better. Listen. It is never wrong.

When I was a college professor of Early Childhood Education many years ago, I received a compelling whisper. The whisper reminded me that what I was doing was not my original plan. That was not your dream. You want to be a talk show host remember. Yes, I went to university and studied Film and Communications to be a talk show just like Oprah, my biggest influence. My family and friends probably thought I made a huge blunder walking away from a stable, well-paid position to start all over again. It was not easy. I learned the ropes of media production through trial and error. But I have no regrets. The whisper led me to create the Nikki Clarke Show which is now in its 12 years of production, on 4 television channels, radio, podcasts and won 10 community awards. I am grateful that the show has been able to positively impact the lives of others. Just as the show tagline states, it transforms lives, one story at a time. Some past guests have even started their own talk shows. So what Oprah was for me, I became for them. I am indebted to that whisper.

3 REASONS TO LISTEN TO the whisper

  1. The whisper allows you to make decisions when you don’t have all the facts.
  2. It helps you make decisions quickly and to adapt.
  3. Don’t be afraid of dreaming big. You can’t build the impossible if you can’t imagine or dream it first, so when you have a great idea, write it down or act on it.

Do not ignore the whisper. It may be offering you some great advice.
