Learning to Unlearn- What is mind pollution?

Nikki Clarke

Nikki ClarkeWe are conscious of what we eat, what we do to stay in shape, and the quality of the air we breathe, did you know that your environment can contribute to mind pollution? What’s mind pollution? It’s anything from your environment that can open a door to negative thinking, anxiety and stress. Mind pollution can originate from a toxic work environment, family, friends or even your partner. Whatever negative behaviours we accept from others enable them to continue what they do, creating more mind pollution.

There is a time when we have to take inventory of our relationships. If they are doing more harm than good, you may have to make a choice to show love from a distance. Sometimes it’s necessary to delete those negative experiences or uploads so that we have more bandwidth for better memories. It’s learning to unlearn. If we can honestly examine ourselves, we can determine how we respond to our environment. Through this self- awareness, we choose our actions carefully.

The mind is a battlefield of thousands of thoughts, both negative and positive, clamouring for victory. If we conquer our thoughts, we can manage the way we respond and how we feel. Who doesn’t want to increase more peace in their life? We don’t always get the response right some days. When I regret the way I handle situations, I admit that I blew it and move on. The good news is, we get a chance to get it right the next day.
